Week 26 Day 6 - Black Rock Shooter

And for the 6th day's post, we shall have something that has evolved a very long way now:-

Black ★ Rock Shooter (Burakku ★ Rokku Shūtā) by Hatsune MIKU


This song has come a LONG way now, in terms of evolution.

Black Rock Shooter (BRS for short) started out as an image on PIXIV drawn by artist, huke, who just happened to look like MIKU. When composer ryo (from supercell) saw the image, he wrote a song about her. Upon contacting huke, they decided to make a PV from the song, with accompanying images drawn further by huke (as seen in the vid above).

The popularity of BRS became so huge that eventually figurines were made of her. In fact, there were 2 quite notable ones, one featuring her gun form (which went to be sold out at a fast rate), and another is her sword form. Also included were various figmas and nendoroids.

From there, BRS evolved further by being a featured song in the Animelo Summer Live 2009, where an OVA of it was also announced during the concert. A 'Pilot edition' was released in September 2009, while the full 50-minute OVA was released in July 2010 this year.

And now, the next step of the evolution is in the form of an RPG game being announced as currently under production.

So the course of the evolution was Image -> Song -> PV -> figurine -> OVA/Anime -> Game
Perhaps we shall see a full series of her in the future, but evolution is still boundless at this point.
